What is actually involved in all your services?
 
Prenatal care:
 
Visits will be scheduled in your home every 4 weeks through 28 weeks of pregnancy, then every 2 weeks until week 36.  Weekly visits from that point until birth.

Labor & Delivery:
​
Vaginal exam done upon arrival to establish a baseline for progress
Vital signs (mother and baby)
Sterile Technique used
Cord cut after pulsing stops
Apgar scoring
Newborn Exam
Infant and Mother monitoring
*Water births available

Postpartum Care:
​
Maternal Exam
Newborn Exam
Maturity Rating
Birth Certificate Filed
Newborn Screen (twice)
36 hour return visit
2 and 6 week check up

What are the high risk conditions that places me in a high-risk category?​
​
1.  Diabetes Mellitus
2.  Hypertensive Heart Disease
3.  Epilepsy
4.  Infectious Disease (including VD)
5.  Drug Addiction
6.  Obesity, Malnutrition or Severe Anemia
7.  Emotional instability in either parent
8.  Pregnancy Complications which include: 
      Pre-eclampsia
      Placenta Previa
      Premature Labor (under 37 weeks)
      Postmaturity (over 42 weeks)
      Fetal distress detected during prenatal exams or labor
      Any other condition or situation the midwife finds that would lead to an unhealthy outcome.
