Payment, Refund & Backup Policies

Prices are subject to change. Waiver forms are available for some tests.

Fees for Labor & Delivery must be paid in full at least 4 weeks prior to due date.  Failure to do so may force termination of services.

  • Pre-existing contraindications to home birth that are known but not reported to the midwife, which contribute to a hospital birth, will NOT be considered a basis for refund.  If the decision to transport mother and/or baby to the hospital is made, no refund will be issued.  One of the main reasons a midwife is hired is to know when it is no longer safe to deliver at home.  Our fee includes our expertise as to when it is no longer safe or expedient to remain at home.

  • The midwife will accompany mother to the hospital (where permitted) and remain throughout the birth, if possible, and continue postpartum care at home following hospital discharge.  This does not apply to C-Section follow-up.

  • If services are terminated, prior to the onset of labor, or if any contraindication for home birth should arise before the onset of labor, any monies over the $500 non-refundable deposit that have been paid against the Labor and Delivery Fee will be refunded within a 60-day period, on a pro-rated basis for services.

If serious complications develop during the prenatal period, labor or delivery, the midwife will refer the client to a physician of their choice for evaluation.  During the evaluation process, the client may be asked to submit to a sonogram, blood tests, or other procedures for diagnostic purposes.  Payment for these services would be made directly to the physician doing the evaluations and ordering the tests.

If the midwife is unable to attend the client when she goes into labor because of circumstances beyond the control of the midwife (to include but not limited to - illness, injury or another mother in labor at the same time) every effort will be made to find another fully qualified midwife as a replacement.

**Due to current COVID-19 Protocols, please be aware that many hospitals may not allow the midwife into the hospital/room.
