Janet's Chicken Soup (for colds)

Recipe:

4 chicken leg quarters
2 large (or 3 medium) onions (diced)
1 whole garlic bulb (minced)
1 whole bunch of celery (chopped)
1 whole head of cabbage (chopped)
1 bag of mini carrots
Herbs (to taste, whatever your favorites are)
Water & Broth to cover all ingredients

Simmer all these ingredients together for about 3 hours.  You may add other things/vegetables to this soup except STARCHES.  Do not add any starches.  The garlic and onion work as a natural antibiotic in the system.  For some reason the starches seem to effect that benefit.  I add fresh herbs from my garden and in the last 15 minutes of cooking I add a whole bunch of cilantro.  I understand that nursing moms should stay away from cilantro and parsley because it can cause a drying up of her breast milk, but if she is not near her due date this should not hurt anything that I am aware of.  I recommend that this pot of soup be eaten completely in 3 days.
Works like a charm!
